Why Machines and AIs Can't Attain Sentience and Spiritual Enlightenment ?

Image
Abstract: With the advent of technology and the new-age spiritual movements, people are questioning whether AIs and machines, or the hybridization of AI/Machines with human beings, can reach a higher potential or even the ultimate potential of enlightenment. They also ponder whether AI and Machines can come closer to or "embody" the sentient nature of us, humans. Or atleast to improve our existing human qualities with the aid of "Trans-humanism". This topic has become increasingly popular, especially considering that there are wealthy individuals willing to invest millions of dollars in implementing such ambitious ideas. Or even to revolutionize the so called universal system/order with the help of these unnatural, "machine-like" beings. Of course, the technology has the ability to significantly enhance our human thinking processes; however, I wonder if these machines can ever achieve the same level of creativity and freshness as an enlightened human mind....

The Illusion Game (The Outer World) and Gnosis - Part 3

Image
Abstract: The previous two articles shed light on to the nature of human consciousness. We learned that the highest state of human consciousness resembles a sort of tapestry woven by the information we accumulated all along! Thus, even the meditative signs we observe during the deep state of Samadhis are, in fact, creations of our own mind. These signs and symbols take on specific forms depending on the information we have stored in our memory and the deep layers of our human brain. The highest state of human consciousness represents sort of a termination layer from which there is nowhere else to go. What we experience at this termination layer serves as a communication from the absolute to the relative. But is that all? We also state that our outward manifestations are a reflection of our inner state. Which implies, this world can be seen as a projection of our own self/mind. This article primarily focuses on the outer world, which may appear like a simulated environment on that parti...

True Spiritual Knowledge and Wisdom? Do Angels Exist and Have Wings?

Image
Abstract: We all have a fascination with supernatural beings. This intrigue often stems from our curiosity about what lies beyond our understanding as we explore the divine. At certain levels of meditation and through energy channels, we can encounter these divine figures face-to-face. One may feel inspired to uncover these mysteries based on their religious studies and background. Both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions describe divine or enlightened beings who assist the truth seekers by providing guidance and direction for their spiritual growth. This article aims to shed light on to this topic and illustrate examples of how these divine beings make themselves known to practitioners in both Eastern and Western traditions. It is surprising to see how these divine figures appear in different/unique shapes to us, depending on the relative/background information we have in our mind. But that is how the universe communicates to the meditator. A divine message from the absolute to t...

The Illusion Game (The Inner World) - Part 2

Image
Abstract: Our previous article sheds some light on to the nature of our human consciousness, the subtle meditative states one can attain and the final termination layer of our human mind. All these states, are witnessed through meditation as deep mental absorptions/samadhis. The nature of this termination layer really depends on the spiritual trajectory of the individual and their level of realization. Most of the time, the advanced practitioners from the Buddhist path go through this matrix/mirror-like state where our mind or awareness finally arrives to its own projection, that creates its own narratives, or rather illusions. Practitioners from other trajectories may have similar stories to share. However, at this mirror-like state, one starts to question everything he/she had witnessed so far; all the meditative experiences, signs, symbols and even the so-called past-life information. Whether they are based on our accumulated data supporting our belief system or whether is it absolu...

The Christian Heaven from a Buddhist Perspective (Christian Heaven witnessed by a Buddhist Yogi)

Image
Abstract: Concepts such as heaven and hell exist in almost all religious traditions. Abrahamic traditions believe that, once you're liberated on this planet earth, you can go to heaven. Buddhist traditions mostly deny this claim and believe that we must reincarnate into this human world again from these celestial realms. Some believe that, these are merely mind-made concepts and in reality do not exist. Abrahamic traditions rely on the attainments such as ego-death, resurrection at their enlightenment while Buddhist traditions state, "Nirvana" is the highest goal leading to the final liberation. So there is a conceptual and a practical difference between the two. However a meditator who followed the bodhisattva path may have been exposed to both of these spiritual traditions and might have a different perspective, entirely based on his meditative experience. This post is about that. Fig. 1: Depiction of heaven in an old painting (left), heaven as a meditative vision and a...

Vipassana: For All Purposes, for All People and for All Seasons

Image
Abstract: Vipassana practice is unique to Buddhism. It is said that Gautham Buddha had found this practice 2500 years ago, which lead him to his final liberation under the Bodhi tree. However we find different forms of Vipassana practices in other religions too. This could be true as Vipassana essentially means, "Insight Meditation" which can be practiced by anybody despite their religious or ethnic background. There are many programs nowadays offering seasonal Vipassana retreats (during Monsoons). We believe that Vipassana practice is the sure remedy to end our suffering and to be free from mind projections. But how so? And what is the true from of Vipassana? This article covers only the practicality of Vipassana and relate them to Buddha's enlightenment.    Fig. 1: Vipassana : From meditation to a quality of mind. When it comes to the practice of meditation, there are thousand different forms to it. Similarly in Vipassana meditation. The aim of this article is to bring ...
